India have gone down badly in the ongoing test series
against Australia trailing by 0-3 with a test to go in Adelaide. Now the
question has rose whether recent performance of the team will eventually affect
the games popularity. Have the spectators lost their restored faith in the
players but the truth of the matter is team’s good or bad performance is not
going to affect its popularity. The reason is simple; cricket will always stand
out any of sports in country. This is not more so because we people of India
loves and admire this game so much, it is because people of this country don’t stand
with many choices. Except cricket there are not many other sports in which our
country competes on international level.
We don’t have Rooney, if Tendulkar fails to look up to, we don’t have Cahill,
if Dravids fails, to look up to. So as the result we the people of India will
always have to fall back on to this only sport.
As the result, how much we get agitated, irritated, angry we
cannot ignore cricket. How badly the team plays, there always be hope and anticipation
from the fans for the next day. And this hope and anticipation will lead to excitement
and this excitement will lead to joy or sorrow. Joy will lead to love and appreciation
whereas; sorrow will eventually lead to anger and curse.
